Admissions

1. How can I/my child enroll in SMA?

Please refer to admission requirements.

2. Are you accepting Graduating Students as transferee?

Yes, a graduating student can transfer to SMA provided that he/she qualifies for additional admission criteria prior to testing: the graduating student comes from an RVM school and has a sibling who is currently enrolled in SMA.

3. Are there discounts for Early Enrollees?

Early Enrolment Discount. Those who enroll before and during the scheduled enrolment and pay in cash mode (full payment) are entitled to a three percent (3%) discount from the tuition fee.

4. What should I do if my child's petition for change of name has been legally approved?

Submit to the Regional Office your request for correction of name with the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate - NSO Original copy ( 1 for DepED, 1 for SMA-P)
  • Joint Affidavit of 2 disinterested persons
  • Letter of request for correction of name addressed to the Director, NCR-DepED
  • Endorsement of the Registrar on his registration with the school under the assumed name.

 

Communication Systems

1. How does SMA communicate with parents?

  • TextSMA is a short message system used for emergency school information or other matters of urgency, as well as informational texts regarding events in St. Mary's Academy. Parents with Globe and Smart subscription can register to the Information Center.
  • Letter of the Directress is a monthly correspondence of the Directress to parents containing various information concerns and updates. You can view these letters in the school's homepage.

 

Financial Assistance

1. Is there any financial assistance that I can avail for my child who is currently enrolled in your school?

The Mother Ignacia Student Financial Assistance Program (MISFAP) provides financial assistance to deserving students. If you would like to apply for scholarship, visit or call the Registrar at 831-6680 ext.118. Deadline for submission of accomplished application form and required documents is April 15.

 

Office Hours

1. Are you open on Saturdays?

Yes, all offices are open on Saturdays at 8:00 - 12:00 noon. Under special work schedule, The Finance Office is open at 6:00 am with no lunch break one week before examination period.

 

Projects, Homework, Textbook

1. What if my child left his assignment or project at home?

Parents, guardians or visitors are not allowed to go up the classrooms nor leave snacks, lunch or money at the Information Center. For any materials, projects, or assignments, left at home; students will be given the chance to submit them the following meeting.

 

Special Programs: Academically Talented

1. What gifted offerings are available for students?

  • Mathellectuals Grades 4-6
  • SPA (Special Program for Visual Arts) Grades 4-6
  • K-6 Enrichment
  • Honors Placement Courses H1-H4

 

Library Services

1. Can my child use the library for research on a Saturday? What are the requirements?

Yes, the library is open for research half-day from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

2. How many books can be borrowed by my child for home use?

Five books, 3 overnight books and 2 fiction books.

3. What if my child failed to return the borrowed book(s)? Are there overdue fines? How much will my child pay for overdue books?

Yes, there is an overdue fines for books not returned on the due date.

4. What if my child lost or damaged the books he borrowed?

Your child will replace his lost or damaged borrowed books with the same title, author or later edition.

5. What if my child lost his Borrower's Card or Internet Access Card Can he apply for a 2nd copy Or how many times can he apply in case of loss?

Yes, he can apply for a new borrower's card and internet access card.

6. How would I know if the borrowed book is already overdue?

Your child will receive a Notice Slip for recall of his overdue borrowed book/s.

 

Health Check-Ups

1. What is Marian Student Health Check-Ups?

The Marian Student Health Check-Up (MSHCU) program is SMA's Well Child program. The program promotes check-ups for students as they grow and develop. Check-ups help doctors find and recommend treatment of health problems, especially those that get in the way to conducive learning. Annual check-ups include:

  • Health History
  • Physical exam
  • Vision, hearing and dental tests
  • Health education
  • Referrals and follow-up

 

Who do I contact about?

1. Class Performance

If you have questions regarding your child's class or class performance: speak first with your child's homeroom adviser. If the issue is still unresolved, speak to the Grade/Year Level Coordinator of the department.

2. Field Trip, Athletics, Status of Athletic Games, Coaches

If you have questions regarding field trip, athletics, status of athletic games, coaches, outreach, etc: speak with the Student Activity Coordinator at 831-66-80.

3. Health Issues, Immunizations, Special Health Services

Any questions regarding health issues, immunizations, etc., should be directed to Health Center, at 831-66-80 or 551-46-63.

4. Standardized Testing

If you are interested about your child's abilities, personality, achievement, and other psychological assessments, please contact the Guidance Center and arrange a special visit with the Guidance Counselor assigned to your child.

5. Suspension of Classes

If you think school might be closed due to inclement weather - call 831-66-80. You can also receive closing information through TextSMA (a short messaging system) and broadcast on local radio stations.

6. Transport Services

Questions about SMA-accredited transport services should be directed to: Information Center or SMAPA, at 551-46-63.

7. Volunteer Opportunities in SMA

SMA welcomes parent volunteers that can enrich our curricular and co-curricular programs. We are in need of teacher -volunteers for young students in line with your expertise. Please contact the Principal or the Academic Coordinators at 831-6680, 551-4663.
