Christian Living and Values Education, which are integrated
in all subject areas being the Core of the curriculum,
aims to develop skills for rational thinking and value
judgment. It includes the four concepts of valuing self,
valuing others, valuing one’s country, and valuing
God. The course further aims to inspire and motivate
the students to commit themselves to Christ not only
in doctrinal truths, moral principles and values liturgical
life of community but also in witnessing to Christian
Service. Both make use of the experiential approach.
Ang MAKABAYAN ay ikalimang saklaw na aralin (learning
area) sa antas sekundarya na binubuo ng Araling Panlipunan,
Technology, Livelihood Education & Computer (dating
Technology and Home Economics o THE), Musika, Sining
at Edukasyong Pangkatawan at Pangkalusugan, (dating
Physical Education Health and Music o PEHM) at Christian
Living & Values Education. Ang Makabayan ay magsisilbing
laboratoryo ng buhay. Layunin nito ang malinang ang
isang mayaman at mayabong na pagkakakilanlang pansarili
at pambansa na ang ugat ay isang malawak at malalim
na pag-unawa at pagtingin sa kasaysayan, sistemang politiko-ekonomiko,
kultura, sining, musika at larong Pilipino. Ang iba’t
ibang asignatura sa ilalim ng MAKABAYAN ay ituturo ng
magkakahiwalay na asignatura. Ang huling dalawang linggo
ay iikot sa iisang tema bawat markahan o quarter.
Ang Araling Panlipunan ay naglalayon na pagyamanin ang
kaisipan at kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral bilang Kristiyanong
Filipino at kasapi ng pandaigdigang pamayanan. Inihahain
ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon ang mga sumusunod na asignatura
sa apat na magkasunod na taon: Kasaysayan at Pamahalaan
ng Pilipinas, Kasaysayan at Kultura ng Asya, Kasaysayan
ng Mundo, at Ekonomiks.
The Mathematics Program aims to help students develop
different mathematical competencies, namely: problem
solving, communicating mathematical ideas, making reasons
and proofs, alertness to the reasonableness of results,
appropriate computational skills, communicating mathematically
algebraic, making representation, geometric thinking,
and applying mathematics to every day situations.
Specifically,
Mathematics 1 is Elementary Algebra;
Mathematics 2, Intermediate Algebra;
Mathematics 2A, Statistics;
Mathematics 3, Geometry;
and Mathematics 4 is Advance Algebra with Trigonometry.
The Science & Technology Program is designed to
promote students’ awareness of the relevance of
science in life and develop critical and creative thinking
as well as skills in problem solving. The Science Program
at the secondary level is designed for more understanding
of science concepts with emphasis on the application
of these concepts to improve the environment and the
quality of life. The areas of study cover the following:
Science 1, General Science; Science 2, Biology; Science
3, Chemistry; Science 4, Physics.
A Math-Science Program is being offered for the Honors’
Class:
1st Year: Earth and Space Science ; Elementary Algebra
2nd Year: Biology ; Physical Science ; Intermediate
Algebra ;Statistics
3rd Year: Chemistry ; Advance Biology ;Geometry ;Discrete
Math
4th Year: Physics ; Inorganic Chemistry ; Advance Algebra
with Trigonometry ; Elementary Calculus
The English Program emphasizes the development of the
students’ critical thinking skills and communicative-interactive
competence through the effective use of English as a
second language. The course aims to address the communication
needs (i.e. interpersonal, informative and aesthetic)
and its basic communication skills (of listening, reading,
writing, and speaking) of Filipino students for English,
which is emerging as the international lingua franca.
The emerging English curriculum adopts a communicative-interactive
collaborative approach to learning as well as reflection
and introspection with the aim in view of developing
autonomous language learners aware of and able to cope
with global trends.
Makikilala ang Filipino bilang FILIPINO SA ISKOLARLING
PAKIKIPAGTALASTASAN. Ito’y kinapapalooban ng dalawang
bahagi Wika at Panitikan. Ang wika ay lumilinanag ng
kahusayan sa mapanuring pag-iisip, pakikinig, pagsasalita,
pagbabasa, at pagsulat. Ito ay tumutugon din sa pangangailangan
ng mga mag-aaral na mapaunlad ang sarili tungo sa mabisang
pakikipagtalastasan at magamit ng wasto ang Filipino
sa lahat ng pagkakataon. Ang akdang pampanitikan ay
tumutuon sa mga sumusunod:
Unang Taon Nagpapahalaga sa pinag-ugatan ng Panitikang
Pilipino.
Ikalawang taon Lumilinang sa mga mag-aaral ng bagong
pananaw sa araling naaayon sa pagbabago sa lipunan at
kapaligiran.
Ikatlong Taon Nagpapahalaga sa pangkatauhan at kulturang
Pilipino.
Ikaapat na Taon Lumilinang sa mga mag-aaral ng malalim
na i mpresyong makatao, makalikasan at maka-Diyos na
pamumuhay .
In response to the call of Information and Communications
Technology (ICT), Computer Education is offered in all
year levels, separated from the T.L.E.
Computer 1 is an introduction to Spreadsheets. It focuses
on the concepts and fundamentals of creating spreadsheets
designed to enhance students’ skills and logical
thinking. The course covers: Managing and Formatting
Worksheets, Managing Workbook File and Formula, Printing,
Charting and Databases.
Computer 2 with the descriptive title PowerPoint gives
hint at the capabilities that this program has to offer.
It implies that there are fundamentals categories of
operation available to the PowerPoint user. These are
Making Slides / PowerPoint Presentation, Visuals, Effects
and producing Sounds. It composes of three ways in creating
a Presentation - Blank Presentation, Auto Content Wizard
Presentation, and Design Template. It offers a signified,
step by step method of imparting information on how
to use the program. The most meaningful peculiarity
of this program ins its multimedia content.
Computer 3 and 4 with the descriptive title Turbo Pascal
and Visual Basic V 6.0 is intended to develop the knowledge
and skills of the students in the aspect of programming.
Proficiency in programming language like Turbo Pascal
and Visual Basic will let the students fully understand
the structure of the logic of a program. Ample hands-on
activities and classroom activity will be given to the
students to enhance their knowledge to prepare the students
for entry into universities or the world of work and
to appreciate the advantages that computer could offer.
Computer 3 and 4 with the descriptive title Turbo Pascal
and Visual Basic V 6.0 is intended to develop the knowledge

Ang Musika ay sumasaklaw sa pag-aaral ng iba’t
ibang elemento ng musika. Upang higit na mapalalim ang
pang-unawa sa mga konseptong pangmusika at mga kasanayang
tulad ng pakikinig, pag-awit, pagtugtog, paglikha at
pagbasa, gagamiting mga batayang kagamitan ang mga musikang
Pilipino (katutubo, pangrehiyon, at pambansa), mga musikang
banyaga at ng iba't ibang panahon (batay sa papataas
na kompleksidad).
Sa Sining, tatalakayin ang iba't ibang anyo ng sining
Pilipino at sining mula sa ibang kultura at kabihasnan.
Sa pag-aaral, bibigyan ng pagkakataong lumikha ang mag-aaral,
at mapag-aralan ang kasaysayan ng sining na nakapaloob
sa kasaysayang panlipunan. Tatalakayin rin ang mga paksa
na tumatalakay sa isyu at kalagayan ng makabagong panahon.
Technology & Livelihood Education Program focuses
on providing students with theoretical background, useful
classroom, and laboratory experiences that lead to the
development of work skills, work ethics, love of work,
self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility that
will surely help them to become productive and responsible
members of the family, community and society where they
belong. The subject covers areas on Home Economics,
Agriculture, Sewing and Entrepreneurship. Specialization
is offered for the Third (Drafting) and Fourth (Food
Service & Management) Year Levels.
